Go-Go is a style of music blending funk, R&B, and old school hip-hop, born during the 1960s in the night clubs of African American communities of Washington, D.C. It’s draw and it’s influence in mainstream culture has waxed and waned since then, but for decades it has been a cornerstone of African American culture in D.C. In 2020, go-go was unanimously voted the official music of the city.
